An eBike is a big investment. We offer annual service, which includes a full tune-up and any needed firmware updates to keep your electric sled running great for the long haul.
Regular Maintenance Matters – warning signs
No need to wait for a breakdown to catch you off guard! But if things start to go south, here are some warning signs that your bike needs some TLC.
Brakes
When your brakes start feeling sluggish, lack proper stopping power, or require you to squeeze the levers all the way to the handlebars, it’s definitely time for a trip to our service team. Over time, brake pads wear down and brake cables stretch, both of which can affect your bike’s ability to slow down or stop effectively. Yikes.
Tires
Rubber can break down, even if you’re not actively using your tires, especially in hot, wet, or sunny conditions. As you log more miles, the tread can also wear out. Keep an eye out for signs of decay, often referred to as ‘dry rot’, look for cracks in the tire and worn sidewalls with threads showing, a faded tread pattern, and bald patches. Getting a new set of tires can help prevent the dreaded blowout.
Spokes
Healthy wheels are marked by evenly tensioned spokes. To check for loose spokes, squeeze two together at a time – you should feel resistance – and listen for any rattling when you spin the wheel. If your wheel looks wobbly when spinning, the spokes might need re-tensioning.
Shifting
Your bike’s gears should shift smoothly without any hesitation or skipping. If you notice any issues, make a note of them to help our mechanics figure out the problem. Is it the front or rear gears giving you trouble? Does it happen when you shift to a harder or easier gear?
Chain
Keep that chain clean and oiled, and replace it now and then to keep things running smoothly. If your chain starts falling off, slipping, or it’s been ages since you last replaced it, bring it into us for a look.
Rust
Water and metal don’t get along! Check for rust on your cables and chains because it can mess with the smooth operation and performance of your bike.
Unusual Noises
A quiet bike is a happy bike! If you hear any clicking, grinding, knocking, squeaking, rattling, or other strange noises, it might mean something needs an adjustment, replacement, or service. Best to get it checked out or you might lose a riding buddy who is tired of the noise.
GOT A QUESTION?
Do I need an appointment?
Our goal is to get you back on the trail as quickly as possible. For this reason we operate on a first come first serve basis. Feel free to give us a call for approximate turnaround times. Also, while we do stock a ton of parts it is often beneficial to give a call before coming by just in case we need to arrange any special parts for a repair.
CAN I DRINK BEER WHILE I WAIT FOR MY BIKE?
Sure thing and cheers! While we can’t promise immediate turnaround service for your bike, we’re happy to check it out. Depending on the repair needed and our current workload, feel free to relax with a cold drink while you hang out on the patio. Let us take some time to see what’s up.
Do you service all bikes? (and what about eBikes)?
Absolutely! We’re a full-service repair shop dedicated to top-tier service for all bike brands and types. If you need specific parts we don’t stock, we’re often able to help source them for your repair.
What type of suspension services do you offer?
Our shop specializes in basic essential suspension services. We can help you get the perfect suspension setup, whether it involves adjusting air pressure, damper settings, or volume spacers. If you need more or less travel, we can swap out air springs, and we handle basic air can and spring services for regularly maintained forks or rear shocks. For more intensive overhauls, we rely on our local suspension expert at Collette Machine and Tool to ensure top-notch service.
do you do on-the-spot repairs?
On-the-spot repairs are our specialty. We try our best to get you back on the trail and riding as quickly as possible. If for whatever reason we are unable to quickly get you up and running, we have a huge selection of rental bikes so you don’t have to miss a day on the bike.
Do you assist with warranties?
Yes! If you have purchased a product from us and it’s faulty or you are having trouble with it, we can assist in the warranty process. If you did not purchase the product from us we can still help out for a small service fee. If it is a brand that we don’t carry we recommend contacting a local dealer or going directly to the manufacturer.
